Not Your Ordinary Print and Photo Studio
We are a small home-based business in Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia. Owned and operated by photographer Mark Garrett, Creative Works Photography combines Mark’s passion for photojournalism with his appreciation for high quality traditional printed photos— you remember… the kind you put in a fancy frame and display on your fireplace mantel.
What makes us different?
Our service is based on quality, not quantity. We offer personalized customer service, including free delivery of prints to addresses in Annapolis County and parts of Kings County.
We know there are a lot of digital savvy individuals out there, but we also realize there are still some people who prefer to have someone else download, edit and print their photos. We are here to support you through the entire process.
The man behind the camera:
From an award-winning newspaper photographer and journalism graduate to a professional studio photographer, I have been creating beautiful pictures for nearly 20 years.
My passion for creating photo illustrations, or fantasy art, emerged after my seven-year-old son died from brain cancer. Channeling my brokenness, like a true artist, I used my paint to fuel my imagination to create what I was feeling –or wanted to feel or believe—into my photos. “Until We Meet Again” was the first – and most poignant – picture born from my intense grief.
Each year on the anniversary of his death, I create a new image to celebrate his life beyond Earth. I may not be able to take any new pictures of my boy, but I can create new ones from those I already have.
I want to help others escape from reality and find themselves or someone they love in a place of peace and beauty. See my gallery of image created in honour of my son Xavier Hayden Garrett, May 13, 2009 - May 31, 2017.
